Summary
Safety Training – Specialized Section for Technical Staff
This training provides specialized safety knowledge for employees in technical areas at SURAGUS. The training is divided into the following main sections:
Module 1: Handling Electrical Systems, Equipment and Devices
- Obligations before using electrical devices: Visual inspection of cables, plugs, housings, and fastenings
- Identifying overload, short circuits, and unauthorized modifications
- When may repairs be performed independently? Role of the electrical specialist
- Important safety markings (CE, VDE, GS) and inspection deadlines
- Special requirements in the technical area (IP 55 protection)
Module 2: Machining – Drilling and Milling Machines
- Mandatory instruction for milling machines, drilling machines, and especially band saws
- Personal protective equipment: Safety goggles, hearing protection – NO gloves with rotating tools
- Safe preparation: Secure hair and loose clothing, do not wear cables or headphones
- Proper handling: Securely clamp workpieces, use stable machines, use both hands
- Workplace organization and cleaning
- Responsibility for maintenance (Marcus Staerz)
Module 3: Soldering Work
- Burn hazard from soldering irons and hot air blowers
- Never solder cables under voltage
- Use adequate lighting and ventilation/extraction
- Special caution with soldering baths – use “Hot” warning sign
Module 4: Device Assembly and Commissioning
- Hazards with open mapping devices and moving parts
- Automatic start possible – do not reach into moving parts
- Check for de-energized state (plug removed)
- Work on live parts only as electrical specialist after instruction
- Disconnect active/moving parts from power before maintenance work
Module 5: Maintenance Work
- The five safety rules for electrical systems
- Preparation: Secure danger zone, prepare PPE, check lighting
- Execution: Disconnect, wait for standstill, secure against restart
- Recommissioning: Function test, install and check protective devices
Module 6: Handling Lasers
- Currently not present at SURAGUS – information for future applications
- Laser safety goggles, protective gloves, protective clothing
- Operator's responsibility for classification and labeling
Learning Objectives: After completing this training, participants can:
- Correctly inspect electrical devices before use
- Safely operate machining equipment and use the correct PPE
- Perform soldering work safely
- Carry out commissioning considering all safety aspects
- Prepare and perform maintenance work in compliance with regulations
This training does NOT replace the required practical instruction on the respective machines and devices. Before first use, separate instruction by authorized persons is mandatory!
